About Sunscreen

Sunscreen is a cryptography company building developer tools for fully homomorphic encryption. Its Parasol compiler lets engineers write FHE programs in C with annotations for encrypted inputs, while its Secure Processing Framework (SPF) provides supporting capabilities for deploying and using private applications across blockchains and web2 environments, including threshold decryption, off-chain execution, storage, and access-control-oriented infrastructure. The organization targets developers building privacy-preserving applications such as private voting, auctions, trading systems, machine learning, and private data lookups.

About the Role

You will help build the core infrastructure of a new cryptographic system, implement cryptographic primitives such as zero-knowledge proofs and fully homomorphic encryption, and write robust security-first code for adversarial environments. You will study advances in cryptography, evaluate their applicability, collaborate with others, and explain complex technical issues to non-technical audiences.

Requirements

  • Significant experience implementing cryptographic primitives
  • Experience with efficient zero-knowledge proof systems
  • Ability to write performant and modular code
  • Comfort working with multiple programming languages
  • Interest in learning new mathematics and cryptography
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to explain complex technical issues to a non-technical audience
  • Ability to collaborate with others

Responsibilities

  • Build the core infrastructure of a new cryptographic system
  • Implement cryptographic primitives including zero-knowledge proofs and fully homomorphic encryption
  • Write robust security-first code for high-risk adversarial environments
  • Stay current with advances in cryptography
  • Determine the applicability of cryptographic advances to the system
  • Present work at conferences

Benefits

  • Remote-first working environment
  • Unlimited paid time off
  • Homecomings for in-person team gatherings
  • Annual health and wellness budget
  • Personal development budget
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401k plan with employer match
  • 1:1 charity donation match
  • Opportunity to travel to and present at conferences
  • Significant equity
