About the Role
You will operate main power units, plant equipment, and switchgear from the control room. You will start up, parallel, and shut down units; place equipment in and out of service; write switching orders; perform switching; support maintenance; maintain housekeeping and safety checks; and assist with operator training.
Requirements
- Four years of power plant operator experience, including control room operation and auxiliary functions
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of power production, control room operation, maintenance functions, operating procedures, system operating orders, and clearance procedures
- Ability to clear equipment, write switching orders, and perform switching
- Communication skills
- Participation in a post-offer physical examination and drug screening
Responsibilities
- Operate plant equipment, switchgear, and power units from the control room
- Start up, parallel, and shut down main power units
- Place plant equipment and auxiliaries into and out of service
- Respond to emergency situations and place equipment in a safe condition
- Perform or assist with routine and major maintenance activities
- Maintain housekeeping standards and perform safety checks
- Assist with training and orienting operators and technicians
- Write switching orders and perform switching
- Work overtime, rotating shifts, and emergency callouts as needed
- Perform temporary duties as an O&M Technician or Shift Supervisor when required
