About the Role

You will build, maintain, and monitor SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases hosted in Azure and AWS. You will automate database builds and maintenance, optimise performance, manage backups and disaster recovery, enforce access controls, and resolve incidents. You will also participate in on-call support and audit-related security and risk activities.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of database administrator experience in Azure or AWS environments
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL database design and optimisation
  • Ability or strong interest in high-availability and mission-critical environments
  • Self-management and time-management skills
  • Ability to participate in an on-call roster and work outside normal business hours
  • Problem-solving and multitasking skills
  • Microsoft Fabric or Power BI experience is desirable
  • Cloud cost optimisation and capacity-planning familiarity is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and monitor Azure and AWS database services
  • Troubleshoot database issues and optimise queries to meet performance SLAs
  • Implement and manage backups, failover solutions, and disaster recovery plans
  • Enforce security protocols and manage access controls
  • Build and run pipelines that automate database builds and maintenance
  • Support database builds and project delivery
  • Participate in an on-call support roster
  • Manage incidents, problems, and changes through the ticketing system
  • Support risk management, information security initiatives, and audits
  • Manage escalations to appropriate stakeholders
