About the Role
Voyager Technologies is hiring a Chief Engineer for Strategic Systems to lead the end-to-end mission success of solid rocket propulsion system programs. The role manages multidisciplinary engineering teams, oversees systems engineering and qualification activities, serves as a technical spokesperson for stakeholders and customers, and balances technical execution with budget and schedule requirements. The position may be based in Reno, Folsom, Huntsville, Long Beach, or remotely within the United States.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline.
- 15 years of engineering experience and at least 5 years of technical leadership in solid rocket motors.
- Experience directing the complete technical lifecycle of engineering programs and leading cross-functional teams.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
- Preferred: at least four years leading solid rocket propulsion projects with multidisciplinary teams of at least 10 people.
- Preferred: current DoD Secret security clearance.
- Travel of up to 25%, including possible overnight travel to sites or external test facilities.
- Ability to lift, move, or carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end technical execution and mission success for solid rocket propulsion system programs.
- Manage large, multidisciplinary engineering teams through design reviews, qualification milestones, and program execution.
- Maintain focus on critical paths, deconflict resources, and drive schedule performance.
- Establish and maintain technical scope baselines while monitoring cost performance and evaluating budget changes.
- Serve as the primary technical spokesperson for internal and external stakeholders and customers.
- Present programmatic material, cultivate new business, and provide data-driven technical alternatives within authorized scope.
