About the Role

You will analyse heterogeneous biological data, especially microbiomes, and determine whether annotations represent real biological signals. You will develop and prototype methods for annotation and data mining, curate model-ready datasets, validate approaches at scale, maintain provenance and data integrity, and apply machine-learning methods where appropriate.

Requirements

• Deep understanding of biological data
• Sequence informatics expertise, including alignment, annotation, and sequence analysis
• Experience building methods or tools applied to real data at scale
• Experience curating data for model training or large-scale analysis
• PhD in a relevant field, MSc with 1–3 years of relevant experience, or BSc with 3 or more years of relevant experience

Responsibilities

• Analyse diverse biological data, including microbiomes from prokaryotes and eukaryotes
• Develop methods and tools to label and mine biological data
• Design model-ready data curation approaches and benchmark improvements
• Prototype and validate methods on large-scale real-world data
• Apply machine-learning methods for annotation, labelling, and mining where appropriate
• Maintain data provenance, integrity, and edge-case handling
• Help build outward-facing tools that support biodiversity discovery
