About the Role
You will design and implement deeply integrated Android experiences using framework and system APIs, system services, lifecycle primitives, IPC, permissions, and device capabilities. You will prototype new interaction models, build reusable platform layers, and own work from exploration through production. You will ensure reliability, performance, privacy, security, and power efficiency across Android devices.
Requirements
- Experience building and shipping Android software for customers
- Knowledge of Android framework APIs, system services, lifecycle, permissions, IPC, background execution, and device capabilities
- Proficiency in Kotlin or Java
- Experience with AOSP, Android framework internals, system applications, privileged APIs, device software, or OEM Android integrations
- Experience integrating software with hardware or device capabilities
- Knowledge of Android OS versions, device configurations, OEM customizations, power management, and platform fragmentation
- Knowledge of Android technologies, APIs, operating-system capabilities, and the mobile ecosystem
Responsibilities
- Design and implement integrated Android experiences using platform capabilities
- Develop against Android framework and system APIs, system services, lifecycle primitives, IPC, permissions, notifications, and intents
- Use device capabilities including audio, camera, sensors, connectivity, location, and credentials
- Develop systems for AI-powered multi-step tasks across applications and device functionality
- Create reusable platform layers and components across devices and OEMs
- Prototype Android capabilities, APIs, and device features
- Own work from technical exploration through production iteration
- Ensure performance, power efficiency, resilience, and reliability
- Handle permissions, user data, device access, authentication, privacy, and security
- Partner with product, design, research, backend, AI, systems, and device partners
