AIWI supports AI-industry whistleblowers, their support organizations, lawyers, and journalists. Its active services include anonymous independent concern assessment, a directory of support organizations, and guidance on legal and financial support; it also conducts AI whistleblowing policy research and advocacy.

About the Role
You will own and prioritize a research backlog, translate strategic priorities into scoped questions, and keep high-priority work progressing. You will source and manage contractors, fellows, and expert reviewers; define deliverables and timelines; provide feedback; and resolve delivery issues. You will take research from draft through publication across guides, tools, presentations, and other formats. You will establish scalable research processes, maintain an expert network, collaborate on useful automation, and feed research insights back into strategy.
Requirements
- Independently manage research projects or programs to completion.
- Manage external contractors, fellows, academic collaborators, or partners.
- Build and maintain research contributor networks.
- Demonstrate strong research-quality judgment.
- Balance rapid research turnarounds with larger projects.
- Demonstrate interests in technical AI safety or AI policy, organizational dynamics, psychology, law, or journalism.
- Seek expert input and feedback when appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and prioritize the research backlog.
- Translate strategic priorities into well-scoped research questions.
- Source and manage contractors, fellows, and academic researchers.
- Define deliverables and timelines and keep engagements on track.
- Provide substantive feedback on research drafts.
- Manage the draft-to-publication pipeline across output formats.
- Establish scalable research templates, review processes, and quality standards.
- Maintain a trusted network of contractors and expert reviewers.
- Surface research insights and process improvements for strategy.
