About the Role

You will develop fast, high-fidelity physics simulation capabilities for AI-driven hardware design optimization. You will build differentiable and surrogate physics models, validate them against solvers and test data, optimize GPU kernels, curate datasets, and create benchmarks that measure model accuracy, stability, and performance.

Requirements

  • PhD in Computational Physics, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science with a numerical-methods focus, or a related field; or a Master's degree plus 3 years of highly relevant experience
  • 0–3 years of post-PhD industry, startup, or postdoctoral experience, or 3–6 years of computational science or engineering experience
  • Experience implementing numerical methods for PDEs, including FEM, FVM, FDM, particle, or mesh-free methods
  • Experience with a scientific computing or ML framework such as JAX, PyTorch, or TensorFlow
  • Experience with GPU or performance-oriented technology such as CUDA or PhysicsNEMO
  • Experience accelerating simulations or building physics surrogate models with quantitative results
  • AI-first workflow using LLMs to generate, refactor, and test code
  • U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, protected-individual status, or eligibility for required U.S. Department of State authorizations

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement fast physics solvers for agentic optimization loops
  • Develop surrogate models that approximate high-fidelity simulations at lower cost
  • Integrate accelerated solvers and surrogates into the ACE platform
  • Identify key regimes and quantities of interest with the ACE Applications Lead
  • Create and curate training and validation datasets using automated parameter sweeps
  • Profile and optimize GPU kernels and numerical pipelines
  • Develop test harnesses, benchmarks, and diagnostics
  • Use LLMs to accelerate coding, experiment scripting, and documentation

  • Discretionary annual bonus plan
  • Paid time off
  • Comprehensive health benefits
  • Retirement savings
  • Wellness program
