About the Role
You will construct test structures and prototype hardware from engineering drawings and CAD models. You will fabricate fixtures and brackets, install sensors and data-acquisition systems, conduct mechanical tests, document outcomes, maintain a safe workspace, and manage parts inventory.
Requirements
- 3+ years of fabrication or aerospace-grade instrumentation experience
- Experience with strain-gauge installation and sensor wiring
- Experience with machine-shop operations and manual and/or CNC tools
- Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions
- Ability to work in shop and lab environments
- Ability to lift and move parts and equipment up to 50 pounds
Responsibilities
- Construct and assemble structures and test articles from engineering drawings and CAD models
- Support design, prototyping, and fabrication of flight-ready hardware
- Maintain records of test-equipment configurations and device designations
- Perform structural repairs using aerospace-grade materials
- Fabricate fixtures and machine brackets
- Install strain gauges, thermocouples, and sensors
- Route cabling, integrate data-acquisition systems, and verify sensor calibration
- Conduct static and dynamic mechanical testing
- Document test outcomes and report anomalies
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace
- Improve instrumentation standards, testing procedures, and fabrication workflows
- Source and manage parts and equipment inventory
