About the Role
You will build, maintain, and operate Ceph-based cloud storage environments. You will improve reliability, scalability, performance, automation, monitoring, documentation, capacity planning, and storage operations while collaborating with network and operations stakeholders.
Requirements
- Problem-solving skills using data structures and distributed systems concepts
- Linux fluency including CentOS, RHEL, Debian, and Ubuntu
- 3+ years of experience configuring, deploying, and managing distributed systems
- Experience with cloud hosting, object storage, and block storage
- Experience tuning performance in virtualized environments
- Knowledge of server hardware, IPMI, SATA, and NVMe
- Automation and scripting experience with Python, Bash, or PHP
- Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Salt, or similar automation tools
- Experience with Ceph or software-defined storage
- Knowledge of Prometheus, collectd, ELK, Grafana, Graylog, Graphite, logging, metrics, or time series
- Communication, time management, independent work, and collaboration skills
Responsibilities
- Enhance the Ceph-based cloud storage system for stability, scalability, functionality, performance, and cost
- Participate in design and architecture decisions for cloud storage
- Develop automation frameworks and infrastructure improvements
- Optimize metrics collection and alerting systems
- Contribute to internal documentation and the knowledge base
- Monitor cloud storage infrastructure for availability and reliability
- Partner on capacity expansion and maintenance windows
- Evaluate technologies and operational methods to improve efficiency
- Research and develop Ceph-based cloud storage features
- Shadow new hires and team members
- Communicate cross-functionally
- Work independently and with project stakeholders
