About the Role
You will set the technical direction for data governance at scale. You will lead distributed backend systems that delete, restrict, and track data across services, drive ambiguous privacy requirements into auditable infrastructure, align engineering teams, mentor engineers, and partner with legal, privacy, security, and product teams.
Requirements
- Typically 8+ years of experience building and operating backend distributed systems at scale
- Experience with Go, Java, or a similar language
- Experience leading complex system design and cross-team technical initiatives
- Strong fundamentals in data stores, consistency, and reliability
- Ability to turn ambiguous requirements into technical plans
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Experience with data privacy, governance, or compliance systems
Responsibilities
- Own the technical architecture for the data-governance platform
- Lead multi-quarter, cross-team initiatives
- Drive design reviews and engineering standards for reliability, correctness, and auditability
- Partner with Legal, Privacy, Security, and product-engineering teams
- Mentor engineers and improve technical judgment
- Act as a technical point of contact for governance concerns
