About the Role

As a Staff Software Engineer on Ripple's Authentication and Authorization platform team, you will shape identity across payment, custody, and liquidity products. You will unify identity providers and protocols, build fine-grained authorization primitives, operate Kubernetes platform services, and use AI tooling throughout engineering workflows.

Requirements

  • Backend engineering experience in Golang or Java with production applications in Kubernetes environments.
  • Experience designing or contributing to identity systems, ideally in multi-tenant or federated contexts.
  • Hands-on use of AI coding assistants and LLM-based tools in daily engineering work.
  • Experience collaborating across teams and writing design documents that build alignment.
  • Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and SAML in production.
  • Experience with policy-as-code authorization approaches such as attribute-based or relationship-based access control.

Responsibilities

  • Set technical direction for the identity platform, including authentication flows, federation, and fine-grained authorization.
  • Lead the design and delivery of a unified identity experience across Ripple's product portfolio.
  • Build and operate Kubernetes platform services focused on reliability, observability, and secure secret management.
  • Partner with security, compliance, and product teams to translate regulatory requirements into platform capabilities.
  • Write technical proposals and contribute to architecture discussions across the engineering organization.
  • Mentor engineers through code review, design feedback, and collaboration.
