About the Role

You will develop concepts for medical devices from ideation through market launch. You will lead intraocular lens and optical-metrology design, develop and validate test methods, and lead requirements, protocols, reports, and documentation. You will assess technologies and intellectual-property opportunities, build external relationships, lead multidisciplinary research, and collaborate with research institutes and R&D groups.

Requirements

• PhD in Optics, Physics, Vision Science, or Mechanical Modelling
• Preferably 5 or more years of relevant experience
• Proficiency in optical design principles and optical-system simulation tools such as Zemax or OSLO
• Project and program definition contacts
• Demonstrated research experience and interest in technology development

Responsibilities

• Develop new medical-device concepts from ideation to market phase
• Lead the design and development of intraocular lenses and optical metrology
• Develop and validate test methods for intraocular lenses
• Lead requirements development and prepare design documentation, protocols, and reports
• Build relationships with partners and notified bodies
• Assess competitive products, technologies, and external ideation
• Contribute to intellectual-property strategy and grant proposals
• Lead multidisciplinary research and collaborate with European research institutes and US R&D groups
