About the Role
You will strengthen the Anti-Financial Crime Compliance framework through second-line oversight, quality assurance, control testing, complex financial crime investigations, and compliance advisory. You will work with AML Officers, Risk, Product, Operations, Engineering, and Data teams to identify control gaps, challenge processes, investigate risks, and improve controls and procedures across regulated markets.
Requirements
- University degree in Law, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in Anti-Financial Crime Compliance, AML investigations, Financial Crime Advisory, or Compliance Oversight within a regulated financial institution, payment institution, fintech, cryptocurrency service provider, or consultancy.
- Practical experience performing quality assurance, second-line controls, or compliance oversight.
- Strong understanding of risk-based AML/CFT control frameworks.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills.
- Ability to interpret structured data and translate insights into risk-based decisions and compliance improvements.
- Confidence interpreting regulatory requirements and translating them into practical guidance, controls, and operational processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German.
- Professional proficiency in German.
Responsibilities
- Perform second-line quality assurance and control reviews across AFC processes.
- Assess investigations, decisions, documentation, and escalations against internal standards and Austrian and German regulatory requirements.
- Review Proof of Funds, Source of Funds, transaction monitoring, and suspicious activity cases.
- Ensure investigations are complete, risk-based, and supported by sufficient evidence, including related Suspicious Activity Reports.
- Perform enhanced due diligence on complex or high-risk cases involving business customers, legal entities, ownership structures, and beneficial owners.
- Identify control weaknesses, recurring quality issues, and operational process gaps.
- Support implementation and follow-up of remediation measures.
- Collaborate with Operations, Product, Engineering, Risk, and AML Officers to improve control design, investigation standards, procedural guidance, reporting, and AFC processes.
