About the Role
You will serve as the founding technical leader for a payments business unit and build its engineering foundation from the ground up. You will specify, ship, and operate the Aptos Payment API; lead integrations with banks, EMIs, PSPs, stablecoin issuers, and e-wallet platforms; build revenue attribution, reconciliation, KYC/KYB, sandbox, and settlement infrastructure; integrate payments with trading systems; hire and lead the first two engineers; and make build-versus-buy decisions. In your first 90 days, you will publish the Payment API v1 specification, ship the testnet sandbox, productionize USDT and USDC settlement rails, deliver the first client integration, and draft an orchestration strategy memo.
Requirements
- 8+ years building payment infrastructure at production scale
- Experience with PSP or orchestrator-class systems, including cross-border rails, on/off-ramps, virtual accounts, or reconciliation
- Hands-on chain-native settlement experience with stablecoin rails, ramp integrations, or wallet infrastructure
- Move or Rust experience is a plus
- Strong engineering judgment on any technology stack
- Experience leading external technical relationships with banks, issuers, and regulated partners
- Product engineering experience building from client and partner requirements
- Experience shipping code and hiring engineers
- APAC corridor experience is a plus
- FX and market-structure fluency is a plus
- Working familiarity with payments regulation, including money transmission, MiCA, or Singapore PS Act, is a plus
- Experience as a founding engineer, first technical hire, or owner of a product line from inception to revenue is a plus

- Specify, ship, and operate the Aptos Payment API
- Lead partner-facing requirements intake, integrations, and technical diligence

- Route corridor foreign exchange through the trading venue

- Harden USDT and USDC settlement rails to production grade
- Deliver the first client integration end to end
- Draft the orchestration build-versus-buy memo
