About the Role
You will design and implement distributed storage features for sandbox workloads. You will solve FUSE consistency and multi-attach correctness, optimize I/O latency, enforce tenant isolation, improve startup performance, and investigate storage incidents through lasting fixes.
Requirements
- Systems programming experience with Go, Rust, or C/C++
- Knowledge of Linux filesystem and storage internals, including VFS, page cache, FUSE, block I/O, fsync, and crash consistency
- Experience building distributed storage, content-addressable storage, or large-scale caching
- Experience profiling I/O, memory, and RPC bottlenecks and optimizing tail latency
- Ability to debug concurrent and partial-failure correctness issues
Responsibilities
- Design and implement metadata replication, volume placement, garbage collection, and FUSE client features
- Solve cache coherency, invalidation, write ordering, and crash consistency across FUSE mounts
- Optimize read and write tail latency through caching, writeback, prefetch, and RPC batching
- Build storage-layer tenant isolation, quotas, containment, and noisy-neighbor mitigation
- Own storage contributions to sandbox startup and resume performance
- Build durable block storage for sandboxes
- Build observability, lead storage incident resolution, and implement permanent fixes
- Contribute to relevant open-source storage projects
Benefits
- Meaningful equity
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance for U.S. employees and dependents
- Flexible PTO and company-wide winter break
- Paid parental leave
- Fertility and family-building stipend through Carrot
- Company-facilitated 401(k) for U.S. employees
