About the Role
You will build systems for fraud, abuse, spam, and malicious-content detection; create rate-limiting, content-scanning, anomaly-detection, and event-pipeline infrastructure; develop internal investigation tools and automated workflows; investigate incidents; and balance security with user experience.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience building scalable high-traffic production systems
- Experience building highly available web APIs
- Proficiency in Node.js, Python, or similar backend technologies
- Database experience with PostgreSQL and Redis
- Experience with Redis, Kafka, or similar event-streaming systems
- Experience implementing rate limiting, content detection, and fraud prevention
- Track record shipping complex applications under tight timelines
- Understanding of technical decisions' impact on user experience and business metrics
- Security and user-protection knowledge
Responsibilities
- Own detection and prevention systems for fraud, abuse, spam, and malicious content
- Design and build trust infrastructure for rate limiting, content scanning, anomaly detection, and account security
- Architect distributed systems, APIs, and event pipelines for real-time abuse detection
- Define and evolve data models and storage systems for trust and safety
- Build tools for support teams to investigate suspicious activity
- Use AI and LLM-based detection for phishing, fraud, and malicious content
- Build automated triage and investigation workflows
- Investigate and resolve complex security incidents
- Partner with engineering and product to balance security and user experience
- Shape the trust and safety strategy and technical roadmap
