About the Role
You will lead the technical direction of a large Kubernetes platform and improve its infrastructure, processes, and engineering standards. You will make key architectural decisions, prioritize and assign technical work, reduce risks and technical debt, and optimize compute consumption. You will partner with business units to onboard and deploy applications, automate repetitive tasks, promote the platform through presentations, and coach engineers on operational and technical excellence.
Requirements
- Multiple years of Kubernetes administration experience
- Deep knowledge of networking, storage, and containerization fundamentals
- Familiarity with AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work across teams and hold evidence-based technical and operational discussions
- Ability to lead by example and cultivate technical excellence and soft skills in team members
Responsibilities
- Own and improve Kubernetes platform infrastructure, processes, and standards
- Make key architectural decisions for the platform
- Set engineering standards and prioritize and assign technical work
- Identify and eliminate risks and technical debt
- Optimize compute consumption for each desk
- Partner with business units to onboard and deploy applications to the Kubernetes platform
- Promote the Kubernetes platform through demos, lightning talks, and presentations
- Automate repetitive manual tasks
- Provide customer service to platform users
- Coach engineers on best practices, complex problem-solving, and operational and technical excellence
