About the Role
You will develop and maintain the core components of umbrelOS, focusing on performance, stability, and security across different hardware architectures. You will ensure optimal integration and performance of umbrelOS on the Umbrel Home, design and implement system-level enhancements, and perform rigorous kernel-level testing and debugging to handle system updates and compatibility issues. You will optimize systems for x86 and ARM64, work with networking and Docker, and solve engineering challenges autonomously while communicating clearly in writing.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of Linux systems including kernel-level internals
- Experience with networking
- Experience with Docker
- Experience optimizing for x86 and ARM64 architectures
- Ability to work autonomously and solve engineering challenges
- Clear and frequent written communication
- Generalist engineering experience and willingness to learn
- Good judgment about when to ship
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain core components of umbrelOS focused on performance, stability, and security across architectures
- Ensure optimal integration and performance of umbrelOS on Umbrel Home
