About the Role

You will set the architectural direction for a compliance control plane and drive adoption of resilient engineering patterns across organizational boundaries. You will solve complex distributed systems problems, translate regulatory obligations into durable infrastructure, guide production ownership, advise senior stakeholders, and mentor experienced engineers.

Requirements

  • 12+ years building production backend systems
  • Deep expertise in Java or comparable JVM languages Go or Rust
  • Experience owning architecture for complex distributed systems at scale
  • Ability to set technical direction across organizational boundaries
  • Strong distributed-systems and resilience design skills
  • Excellent REST and gRPC API design judgment
  • Experience in regulated environments
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes
  • Working knowledge of Grafana OpenTelemetry or similar observability tools
  • Cloud infrastructure knowledge with AWS preferred
  • Experience developing senior and staff engineers
  • Fintech payments identity or compliance technology experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Own the multi-year architecture for the compliance control plane
  • Solve multi-vendor failover and high-throughput decisioning problems
  • Design regulator-grade auditability and resilience across dependency failures
  • Define integration contracts resilience patterns and compliance primitives
  • Translate regulatory obligations into engineering roadmaps
  • Anticipate platform risks and scaling constraints
  • Partner with executive stakeholders and represent technical positions to auditors regulators and external partners
  • Set standards for observability alerting incident response and reliability
  • Mentor staff and senior engineers
  • Elevate design quality through architecture reviews
