About the Role
You will build and evolve a high-performance Java enterprise application that supports scheduling, optimization, and frontend endpoints. You will design and deliver scalable features and APIs, make data-driven technical decisions, test your work, resolve bugs, and support applications end to end. You will collaborate with stakeholders to clarify requirements, contribute to planning, review designs and code, mentor other engineers, and maintain high standards for security, performance, quality, and user experience.
Requirements
- Hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Have 7–8 years of experience with backend technologies including Java, Spring Boot, and MySQL.
- Have 7–8 years of experience building multi-tenant SaaS applications.
- Have 7–8 years of experience designing and building APIs.
- Have at least five years of experience delivering software in a cloud-based environment using AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Have professional software development experience.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Java or C++ and object-oriented design.
- Understand application architecture and design patterns.
- Preferably have experience serving as a technical lead throughout the full software development lifecycle.
- Know professional software engineering practices across coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Have experience developing distributed, scalable systems and high-volume transaction applications.
- Demonstrate the ability to lead projects from inception through production.
- Demonstrate mastery of communication, software architecture design, and technical documentation.
- Possess strong prioritization and a results-oriented work ethic.
- Demonstrate proficiency with AWS products and services.
- Have experience managing code-quality frameworks or systems such as Coverity or SonarQube.
Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality features on time.
- Build features using coding practices that support performance and user experience.
- Understand the assigned product area thoroughly.
- Assist the CTO and architect with feature design.
- Own product quality.
- Test features before submitting them to QA engineers.
- Write unit tests.
- Work with QA engineers to test the product end to end.
- Resolve incoming bugs daily according to resolution goals and service-level agreements.
- Demonstrate the product end to end.
- Devise robust solutions that help product engineering teams deliver scalable and performant features rapidly.
- Design, build, and support applications end to end.
- Make data-driven technical decisions.
- Debug and solve complex technical problems.
- Clarify ambiguous requirements with stakeholders.
- Contribute to the long-term team charter and quarterly planning.
- Mentor engineers and uphold code quality through design reviews, code reviews, and feedback.
- Work with QA to prepare features for production.
