About the Role
You will own the execution engine, including runtime behavior, scheduling, and sub-agent parallelization. You will build durable checkpointing, resumption, and recovery, shape synchronous and asynchronous execution, and maintain reliability, latency, throughput, and deploy safety as workloads scale.
Requirements
- 5+ years building production backend systems with depth in distributed systems.
- Experience with durable execution or workflow orchestration such as Temporal or Cadence.
- Knowledge of idempotency, state machines, and failure recovery.
- Strong command of concurrency, queueing, retries, and fault tolerance under load.
- Strong Python skills and experience with modern backend frameworks such as FastAPI.
- Sound database fundamentals with Postgres or similar.
Responsibilities
- Own the execution engine, runtime, scheduling, and sub-agent parallelization.
- Build checkpointing, resumption, and recovery for long-running agents.
- Design scheduling, queueing, and synchronous-to-asynchronous execution.
- Maintain worker freshness, deploy safety, drain time, latency, and throughput.
- Enable new agent harnesses, orchestration frameworks, and model capabilities in the runtime.
