About the Role

Design, build, and implement changes to Stellar Core, the distributed system maintaining the Stellar ledger and global consensus. The role focuses on peer-to-peer networking, processing performance, decentralization, resilience, incentive mechanics, formal verification, simulation, and distributed and multi-core scalability.

Requirements

4+ years of experience developing software on a team.
BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Production experience writing modern C++ or Rust.
Strong communication skills for technical discussions, design, and code review.
Understanding of software design patterns and reusable, extensible, modular components.
Knowledge of development best practices and tools.
Passion for performance debugging and benchmarking.
Bonus: experience designing and implementing distributed systems.
Bonus: curiosity about blockchain technologies and cryptocurrencies.

Responsibilities

Design and build key components of Stellar Core.
Design and develop robust, scalable, and extensible technologies for developers and network participants.
Collaborate on architectures and subsystems with the CTO, engineering team, and open source community.
Write clean, maintainable code with emphasis on edge-case analysis and future-proofing.
Own core Stellar Core subsystems and help achieve product milestones.
Participate in code review, design, and engineering best practices.
Investigate and refactor performance bottlenecks.
Author technical feature and protocol RFC specifications.
