About the Role

You'll join the Ledger domain, specifically the Reporting & Customer Reconciliation subdomain, helping rebuild reporting so customers gain full transparency to reconcile invoices, audit charges programmatically, and automate close processes. You'll design and implement services that produce standardised financial reports and views from ledger data, build customer-facing reconciliation APIs, and ensure every transaction is accurately posted, settled, and queryable. You'll contribute to the event-driven transaction processing pipeline, integrate with downstream teams like Billing & Fees, Finance, and Commercial, and build reliable, horizontally scalable services using Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, Kafka, and PostgreSQL. You'll also participate in on-call rotations, incident response, and production monitoring, while writing well-tested, well-documented code and contributing to architecture reviews.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience in Java or Kotlin with Spring Boot
• Strong distributed systems fundamentals with experience building microservices with event-driven architectures (Kafka, SQS) and relational databases
• Data pipeline experience with event-driven data flows (Kafka consumers/producers, outbox patterns) and ensuring data consistency across services
• Experience with financial data systems such as ledgers, transaction stores, reconciliation pipelines, or financial reporting systems
• Solid grasp of domain-driven design and hexagonal architecture
• Understanding of double-entry bookkeeping or ledger semantics
• Collaborative and proactive communication with product managers, finance teams, and cross-domain engineers
• Production ownership mentality with experience in on-call, incident response, and operational monitoring (Grafana, Prometheus, Micrometer)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and observability tooling
• Open to participate in out of hours on call rota

Responsibilities

• Build and improve the Reporting Service by designing and implementing services that produce standardised financial reports and views based on ledger data
• Build reconciliation APIs for enterprise clients to programmatically audit charges, automate close processes, and reconcile against invoices
• Ensure ledger integrity at scale across multiple services so every transaction is accurately posted, settled, and queryable
• Support the FinLedger pipeline by contributing to the event-driven transaction processing pipeline
• Integrate with downstream consumers including Billing & Fees, Finance, and Commercial teams
• Design services for reliability and horizontal scale using hexagonal architecture patterns with Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, Kafka, and PostgreSQL
• Own operational excellence by participating in on-call rotations, incident response, and production monitoring
• Write well-tested, well-documented code and contribute to architecture reviews and technical design submissions
