About the Role

You'll design and own backend architecture for core Solana Mobile services, including the dApp Store APIs, wallet services backend, device registry, event tracking, and on-chain activity systems like staking. You'll build and maintain REST and WebSocket APIs consumed by Android, Flutter, and Web clients as well as third-party developers integrating the Solana Mobile Stack. You'll own your services in production, participating in on-call rotation, writing runbooks, and contributing to post-mortems. You'll look for friction in your own work and the team's processes, automating what makes sense and building small tools that save time. You'll contribute to CI/CD reliability and build infrastructure with an eye on pipeline speed, cost, and reproducibility. You'll conduct thorough code reviews, contribute to technical discussions, and initiate RFC discussions for significant changes. You'll drive infrastructure decisions on AWS from architecture through cost-conscious production operation, and own the observability stack including structured logging, metrics, alerting, and distributed tracing. You'll contribute to backend architecture for device attestation and Seed Vault integration, including on-chain verification flows. You'll collaborate with mobile engineers to design mobile-first API patterns and work closely with Protocol Engineers to design off-chain services that compose cleanly with on-chain logic.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional backend engineering with a track record of owning and operating production services
• High ownership and ability to drive problems end-to-end without waiting for direction
• Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot as part of daily workflow
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js and/or Rust with idiomatic, well-tested, production-grade code
• Solid command of PostgreSQL: schema design, query optimization, indexing, migration discipline
• Good working knowledge of Redis: caching patterns, pub/sub, TTL strategies
• Hands-on AWS experience: ECS, RDS, SQS, S3, Lambda
• Sound understanding of distributed systems: idempotency, eventual consistency, fault tolerance, graceful degradation
• Security-aware: secrets management, API auth patterns (JWT, OAuth2), OWASP hygiene
• Comfortable with Docker and containerized deployments

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain REST and WebSocket APIs consumed by Android, Flutter, and Web clients, as well as third-party developers
• Own services in production: participate in on-call rotation, author runbooks, contribute to post-mortems, and close the loop on action items
• Automate friction points and build small tools that save repeated effort
• Contribute to CI/CD reliability and build infrastructure with focus on pipeline speed, cost, and reproducibility
• Conduct thorough code reviews, contribute to technical discussions, and initiate RFC discussions for significant changes
• Drive infrastructure decisions on AWS (ECS, RDS, Lambda, SQS, CloudFront) from architecture through cost-conscious production operation
• Own the observability stack: structured logging, metrics and alerting, distributed tracing, and incident response runbooks
• Contribute to backend architecture for device attestation and the Seed Vault integration layer, including on-chain verification flows
• Collaborate with mobile engineers to design mobile-first API patterns for offline resilience, background sync, and efficient payloads
• Work with Protocol Engineers to design off-chain services that compose cleanly with on-chain logic
