About the Role
Design and deliver end-to-end card-platform features, integrations, secure scalable services, project ownership, code review, mentoring, and on-call participation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Backend Engineering experience, preferably in FinTech or payments
- Expertise in Java and Spring Boot
- Experience building APIs and services in a microservices architecture
- Strong understanding of card payments, issuing, or transaction processing
- Enthusiasm for AI-assisted development tooling
- Ability to self-direct work from scoped tasks to multi-sprint initiatives
- Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience using code review for mentoring
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with crypto/fiat payment rails is a plus
- Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota
Responsibilities
- Design and implement card platform features covering tokenization, sensitive card data, transaction enrichment, and settlement
- Build and maintain integrations with card issuers and payment processors
- Architect scalable, secure, PCI-compliant systems across multiple services
- Own features and projects from inception through completion
- Break down complex domains into deliverable work items
- Drive cross-team initiatives around shared libraries, patterns, and infrastructure
- Review code and provide constructive feedback
- Mentor teammates and set quality standards
- Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota
