About the Role

You will own the firmware test automation architecture and roadmap. You will build production-quality automation, operate hardware-in-the-loop infrastructure, integrate firmware testing into CI/CD, analyze results and failures, influence testability, define diagnostics, mentor engineers, and document the test architecture.

Requirements

  • Have 8+ years of professional software development experience on embedded products, including test frameworks and infrastructure
  • Have a BS or MS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Have architected and built an automation framework or HIL system from scratch that is adopted and used daily
  • Have strong Python experience with fixture and abstraction layers, hardware drivers, and plugin or configuration architectures
  • Have working fluency in embedded C/C++
  • Have experience owning CI/CD pipelines that run tests on physical hardware
  • Have a track record of delivering robust automation under fast-changing requirements and hardware
  • Have the capacity to comply with federally mandated U.S. export control requirements

Responsibilities

  • Own the architecture and roadmap for the firmware test automation framework
  • Design and build stable automation for firmware features and hardware
  • Build and operate hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure
  • Define test strategy, plans, reporting, and test-plan reviews
  • Integrate firmware testing into CI/CD
  • Own framework reliability and flaky-test metrics
  • Build result, telemetry, and log pipelines for triage and release decisions
  • Debug failures across firmware, boards, instruments, fixtures, and test code
  • Participate in firmware design reviews to improve testability and diagnostics
  • Integrate with CMIS, OpenBMC, and DMTF interfaces
  • Define diagnostics and monitoring architecture for photonic transceivers
  • Mentor engineers and write documentation for non-specialists
