About the Role
You will develop and optimize DNA and RNA extraction, purification, library preparation, and sequencing workflows for challenging samples. You will design controlled experiments, analyze performance data, validate methods, document and transfer them into production, collaborate across R&D and data teams, and mentor colleagues.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in molecular biology and sequencing method-development projects
- Knowledge of metagenomic extraction methodologies across diverse sample types
- Experience with high-molecular-weight extraction methods
- Experience with end-to-end DNA and RNA extraction and sequencing workflows
- Experience with experimental design, statistical comparison, and troubleshooting
- Experience working in multidisciplinary project teams
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize metagenomic extraction methods for diverse sample types
- Develop DNA and RNA purification methods, including high-molecular-weight extractions
- Develop virology-focused extraction and sequencing workflows
- Design controlled experiments to compare methods and sequencing performance
- Define success criteria, generate validation data, and transfer methods into production
- Prioritize development work based on scientific value, feasibility, scalability, and timelines
- Develop and implement next-generation sequencing library-building methods
- Analyze experiments and present findings
- Mentor colleagues
- Develop protocols and lead R&D projects for new sequencing methods
- Collaborate with R&D sites and data science on challenging target genes and DNA modalities
