About the Role

You will lead characterization, bring-up, validation, and root-cause analysis for lasers and semiconductor optical amplifiers. You will build automated optical and RF test setups, develop measurement methods, analyze data, debug measurement issues, report results, and guide device validation through production readiness.

Requirements

• PhD or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Photonics, Optics, or a related field
• 5+ years of semiconductor laser, SOA, photonics, or optical-device characterization experience
• Knowledge of semiconductor laser physics and optical noise mechanisms
• Optical and electro-optical lab measurement experience
• Knowledge of laser-characterization metrics
• Knowledge of semiconductor optical amplifiers
• Experience with optical and RF instruments
• Python programming experience for automation and data analysis
• Experience with device modeling, simulation, or data-driven analysis

Responsibilities

• Characterize semiconductor lasers and semiconductor optical amplifiers
• Measure and analyze laser and SOA performance metrics
• Develop laser and drift measurement methodologies
• Characterize devices across electrical, thermal, optical, and aging conditions
• Build and maintain automated optical and RF measurement setups
• Develop instrument-control and data-analysis workflows
• Debug optical, electrical, RF, and thermal measurement issues
• Define calibration procedures and data-quality standards
• Provide characterization feedback to engineering functions
• Support device validation through production readiness
• Mentor junior engineers
• Prepare technical reports and design reviews
