About the Role

You will lead the architecture and evolution of distributed, real-time simulation systems across virtual, constructive, and live environments. You will build high-performance C++ and Python software, integrate defence simulation frameworks, and deliver containerized deployments. You will lead engineering work, connect simulations to autonomy and hardware interfaces, improve testing and delivery practices, and deliver scalable validated simulation environments for customer programs.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in computer science, software engineering, mechatronics, or a related field
  • Extensive professional experience in software engineering and systems integration
  • Experience with modern and legacy C++ standards
  • Professional Python experience
  • Experience delivering reliable software in fast-paced engineering environments
  • Experience leading teams delivering complex engineering or software projects
  • Experience with real-time distributed simulation systems or HWIL/SWIL environments
  • Experience with Docker or similar containerization technologies
  • Proficiency in Linux development environments
  • Problem-solving skills for complex technical challenges
  • Ability to obtain an Australian NV1 security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture, design, and evolution of distributed real-time simulation systems
  • Architect and implement high-performance C++ simulation and interoperability software
  • Develop and optimize simulation software for multi-agent and system-of-systems scenarios
  • Integrate defence simulation frameworks
  • Deliver containerized simulation deployments using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Provide technical and project leadership to engineering contributors
  • Connect simulations with autonomy algorithms, hardware interfaces, and automated test pipelines
  • Improve CI/CD, test-driven development, software architecture, and simulation tooling
  • Deliver validated and scalable simulation environments for customer programs
