About the Role
You will amplify public security work and deepen relationships with security practitioners, researchers, maintainers, and open-source communities. You will grow community relationships, attend and speak at conferences, support open-source maintainers, facilitate technical office hours, publish technical content, prepare conference talks, test tools against unfamiliar code, improve onboarding and documentation, attract contributors, and bring practitioner feedback back to the firm. You will also build with agentic tooling and contribute software that people use.
Requirements
- Build and ship software that people use, such as tools, libraries, integrations, skills, or agents
- Read unfamiliar code, run analyzers, and open pull requests that get merged
- Have deep hands-on security experience, typically seven or more years
- Build with agentic tooling, including skills, agents, MCP servers, harnesses, and evals
- Have a public body of work including talks, posts, upstream contributions, research, or documentation
- Possess credibility within security and open-source communities
- Demonstrate technical writing and public speaking ability
- Make decisions and defend them under ambiguity
- Experience maintaining or meaningfully contributing to an open-source project
- Depth in application security, blockchain and cryptography, AI/ML security, or low-level systems research
- Experience running or programming a community venue at meaningful scale
- Contributions to developer documentation that ships alongside code
- Involvement with open-source foundations, grant programs, or maintainer-facing initiatives
- Willingness to travel approximately one quarter of the year
Responsibilities
- Grow existing relationships across the security community and establish new ones
- Attend and speak at relevant security conferences and cybersecurity meetups
- Help bring back successful meetups similar to Empire Hacking
- Support open-source projects and maintainers
- Facilitate technical office hours connecting maintainers with engineers
- Help contributions land upstream and maintain relationships after engagements end
- Turn research and releases into reusable advisories, writeups, and guidance
- Optimize tools, skills, and plugins for adoption
- Teach security methods through workshops and hands-on sessions
- Publish deep dives, tutorials, and technical write-ups under your own name
- Identify speaking opportunities and help engineers submit, prepare, and deliver talks
- Run published work against unfamiliar code and provide direct feedback
- Ship runnable examples and workflow integrations
- Contribute to skills and plugins used by internal teams
- Improve project onboarding, documentation, and first-run experiences
- Attract external contributors and encourage continued contributions
- Communicate practitioner needs, research gaps, and emerging ecosystems internally
