About the Role
You will develop and deploy computer vision and perception systems for autonomous landing, landing-zone evaluation, and navigation. You will build terrain and obstacle algorithms, work with camera and sensor data, improve systems using flight data, integrate flight behaviors, and debug issues across simulation, ground testing, and flight operations.
Requirements
- 5+ years developing and deploying computer vision or perception systems
- C++ proficiency
- Python proficiency
- Experience with robotics, autonomous vehicles, drones, or aerospace perception systems
- Experience with sensor data and operational deployment constraints
- Knowledge of camera systems, sensor fusion, and state estimation
- Experience using logs, telemetry, or flight data to improve deployed perception systems
- Communication and collaboration skills
- U.S. citizenship, U.S. permanent residency, or eligibility under applicable export control regulations
Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy computer vision systems for autonomous landing and landing-zone evaluation
- Build targetless landing perception systems for dynamic environments
- Mentor junior perception engineers
- Develop terrain understanding, obstacle detection, and environment classification algorithms
- Work with camera, IMU, GPS, and other sensor data
- Improve system performance using flight data, testing, and iteration
- Integrate perception systems into flight behaviors
- Debug perception and autonomy issues in simulation, ground testing, and flight operations
- Contribute to software architecture, testing, integration, and deployment workflows
