About the Role
You will own colour, materials, and finish direction from concept through production-ready specification. You will develop CMF strategy, material libraries, finish standards, sample archives, engineering specifications, and governance processes. You will validate feasibility with suppliers and manufacturing partners, lead CMF reviews, and collaborate with industrial, fashion, and UX designers on material decisions, including relevant soft-goods work.
Requirements
- 7+ years of CMF experience with complex manufactured products
- Knowledge of materials, surface finishes, coatings, and manufacturing processes for electromechanical products
- Experience producing CMF specifications for engineering teams
- Ability to support material decisions with process, technical trade-offs, and physical evidence
- Ability to work in ambiguity
- Based in London five days per week
Responsibilities
- Own CMF direction across robot programmes from concept to production-ready specification
- Develop CMF strategy aligned with overall design direction
- Develop and maintain material libraries, finish standards, and sample archives
- Define and document engineering-ready CMF specifications
- Collaborate with industrial, fashion, and UX designers on material decisions
- Validate material feasibility with manufacturing partners and suppliers
- Lead CMF reviews for design leads and senior stakeholders
- Contribute to garment and soft-goods material decisions
- Build CMF standards, workflows, review cadences, and governance
