About the Role
You will own and improve the CASS risk and control framework, review client money and custody reconciliations, oversee banking and custody providers, and investigate breaks, failures, and breaches. You will track remediation, analyze trends, support audits, modernize controls through automation and AI, and contribute to regulatory change and CASS strategy.
Requirements
- Have strong knowledge of CASS 6 and CASS 7 gained in a UK-regulated financial services environment.
- Have experience preparing, reviewing, or approving client money and custody reconciliations.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of risk, controls, and governance.
- Perform root-cause investigations of issues.
- Use data and management information to identify trends and recurring risks.
- Communicate clearly and structure documentation of findings, controls, and remediation actions.
- Work closely with operational teams while maintaining independent judgment and appropriate challenge.
- Show a genuine interest in using AI and automation to modernize controls and reduce manual work.
Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the CASS risk and control framework.
- Review control effectiveness and improve how risks are assessed, monitored, and evidenced.
- Support the migration and modernization of the CASS control environment through automation and AI.
- Lead third-party due diligence and oversight across banking and custody relationships, including counterparty and concentration risk.
- Review and approve client money and custody reconciliations.
- Investigate reconciliation breaks, control failures, and CASS breaches to identify root causes.
- Own remediation tracking and implement preventative actions with CASS Operations.
- Produce management information and trend analysis on breaches, breaks, and control performance.
- Use incident and control data to identify systemic issues and improve the CASS framework.
- Support internal and external audits and maintain year-round audit readiness.
- Contribute to CASS impact assessments, regulatory change, and broader CASS strategy.
