About the Role

You will design, build, and operate backend services that power payment orchestration, merchant APIs, settlement flows, and internal business services. You will write technical design documents, ship production-quality code with tests and documentation, own deployments and infrastructure via Terraform on AWS, and instrument systems with logging, metrics, and tracing. You will respond to production incidents, improve system resilience, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders while using AI tools to accelerate development.

Requirements

• Senior-level backend engineering experience designing shipping and operating production services
• Strong API and system design skills
• Production experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) and managed services
• Experience deploying and managing infrastructure as code (Terraform or equivalent)
• Ability to translate business requirements into correct maintainable implementations
• Strong written and verbal communication and technical documentation skills
• Experience using AI tools effectively in engineering workflows

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services for payment flows, APIs, data pipelines, and internal tooling
• Make architectural decisions for APIs, data models, error handling, and system boundaries
• Write technical design documents and participate in architectural reviews
• Ship production-quality code with testing and clear documentation
• Own services end-to-end including deployment, monitoring, and operational support
• Contribute infrastructure as code using AWS and Terraform
• Build observability into services via logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting
• Respond to production incidents and drive resilience improvements
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Ops, Finance, Legal, and BD on implementations
• Participate in code review culture and AI-assisted development workflows
• Contribute to engineering standards, documentation, and team processes
