About the Role
You will design and build the trigger system that connects GitLab and third-party events to AI-powered Duo Flows. You will contribute to the event platform, build for high availability and throughput, work in the Rails monolith, influence architecture, collaborate across functions, and participate in on-call rotations.
Requirements
- Deep experience with Ruby and Rails
- Experience integrating large language models into user-facing tools
- Experience designing and operating large-scale systems with high availability and throughput
- Experience with agentic systems and development
- Ability to work in evolving problem spaces and learn new AI capabilities quickly
- Strong written communication skills for asynchronous remote work
Responsibilities
- Design and build the trigger system connecting GitLab and third-party events to AI-powered Duo Flows
- Contribute to the broader event platform
- Architect systems for high availability and throughput at scale
- Work within GitLab's Rails monolith
- Propose iterative solutions to complex technical problems across a multi-service environment
- Collaborate with teammates, the product manager, and designer to shape trigger-system capabilities
- Partner with Duo Agent Platform teams to integrate triggers and events with the broader agent ecosystem
- Participate in Tier 2 and Tier 3 on-call rotations to troubleshoot production, security, and urgent engineering issues
