About the Role
You will support transmission planning and interconnection efforts across the United States. You will prepare utility and grid-operator submissions, maintain power-system models, lead power-flow studies, direct stability and protection studies, validate dynamic models, prepare technical reports, translate findings for stakeholders, and improve study workflows through automation.
Requirements
- BSEE from an ABET-accredited program with a power emphasis
- 5-8 years of experience in power systems, transmission planning, and interconnection
- Proficiency with PSS/E, PSLF, PowerWorld, TARA, or equivalent software
- Experience validating dynamic models against PSCAD or EMTP models
- Strong analytical skills
- Report preparation, data analytics, and cost modeling skills
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Proficiency with workflow automation and application programming interfaces
- ISO/RTO, consulting, or utility experience preferred
- Experience with PJM, ERCOT, MISO, SPP, or Southeast markets preferred
- Experience with large-load or data center power requirements preferred
- Professional Engineer license strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Prepare utility and grid-operator submission materials
- Track study milestones
- Support interconnection negotiations
- Maintain internal study records
- Ensure power-system model currency across regional grid operators
- Lead power-flow studies for load capacity screening, network upgrade cost estimation, and reliability analysis
- Direct stability and protection studies
- Prepare and review technical reports and analyses
- Translate technical findings for engineering, business, and executive audiences
- Coordinate internal teams and stakeholders
- Direct external consultants building and validating power-flow and dynamic models
- Own dynamic model validation and benchmarking
- Drive workflow automation and adoption of modern software tools
