About the Role

Lead complex, high-risk, and multi-jurisdictional financial crime investigations; conduct on-chain tracing and attribution analysis; draft suspicious activity narratives and filing packages; review junior investigators’ work; identify emerging typologies; help evaluate and apply AI tooling; and escalate suspicious behaviors with well-reasoned customer risk recommendations.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience in AML, financial crime, or fraud investigations.
• At least 2 years of experience in blockchain or digital asset investigations.
• Demonstrated multi-hop bitcoin tracing through peel chains, consolidations, change behavior, and nested services.
• Exceptional analytical abilities and judgment on ambiguous facts.
• Outstanding written communication and experience producing SAR narratives and case files.
• Working knowledge of BSA/AML obligations, OFAC sanctions requirements, and SAR filing standards.
• Proficiency with Chainalysis, TRM Labs, open source research, and KYC/case management tools.
• Professional experience applying AI tooling.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a remote, fast-paced setting.
• English fluency.

Responsibilities

• Lead investigations into high-risk and multi-jurisdictional activity, including structuring, layering, sanctions evasion, and fraud.
• Conduct on-chain tracing and attribution analysis on high-risk flows.
• Translate technical findings into plain-language conclusions.
• Serve as the internal authority on bitcoin investigations.
• Act as an escalation point on complex tracing.
• Review junior team members’ investigative work and written output.
• Draft suspicious activity narratives and prepare filing packages for BSA Officer review.
• Identify emerging patterns for monitoring rule design, threshold tuning, and false positive reduction.
• Evaluate and help apply AI tooling to investigative work.
• Set human review standards for AI-assisted investigative output.
• Detect and escalate anomalies or suspicious behaviors.
• Recommend customer risk decisions.
