About the Role
You will advise on state AI policy, governance, safety, and adoption. You will analyze stakeholder input, contribute to legislative reports, coordinate governance leads, consult external experts, convene policymakers, and help modernize government services through responsible AI use.
Requirements
- Graduate degree and subject matter expertise in AI policy and governance, or multiple years of specialized experience
- Availability to serve full-time for at least one year
- Legal authorization to work full-time in the United States
- Physical presence in California
Responsibilities
- Summarize, synthesize, and advise on analysis of stakeholder input from public channels
- Contribute written content, findings, and recommendations to a report for the State Legislature
- Coordinate with AI governance leads across internal offices and divisions
- Respond to requests for AI adoption, governance, safety, security, analysis, evaluation, and advice
- Solicit information and coordinate with public, academic, private, federal, tribal, community, foundation, and nonprofit experts
- Convene policymakers and technical experts on cross-cutting AI issues
- Identify emerging AI adoption and governance opportunities and challenges
- Support responsible and ethical AI use to modernize government service delivery
