About the Role
You will own backend quality engineering for banking systems. You will build scalable automation for APIs, services, databases, and end-to-end financial workflows; validate correctness and failure behaviour; maintain test infrastructure; integrate testing into CI/CD; and improve observability, performance testing, and testing standards.
Requirements
- Experience building or substantially extending backend automation frameworks
- Experience testing REST APIs, backend services, databases, and service-to-service integrations
- Knowledge of distributed-system failure modes
- Ability to validate workflows across APIs, relational databases, events, queues, and downstream services
- Ability to write complex SQL queries
- Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of debugging, clean code, Git, data structures, and algorithms
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve automation frameworks for APIs, services, databases, and banking workflows
- Build test scenarios for transaction processing, ledgers, reconciliation, settlement, payouts, and financial calculations
- Validate retries, idempotency, concurrency, duplicate requests, timeouts, partial failures, and recovery paths
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and create quality gates
- Build and maintain test environments, data setup, mocks, simulators, and containerized test runners
- Build load, stress, and resilience test suites
- Use logs, metrics, and traces to diagnose failures
- Identify risks, edge cases, and testability gaps during design discussions
- Review automation code and mentor junior SDETs
