About the Role
You will provide technical guidance on innovation and economic development policy, with a focus on AI, quantum, and semiconductors. You will prepare recommendations and briefings, review grants, support grantees and stakeholders, advise the Innovation Council, analyze information, and represent the office at events.
Requirements
- Exceptional expertise and demonstrated experience in science, technology, and economic or innovation policy
- Credibility, diplomacy, political acumen, integrity, and partnership management
- Extensive interdisciplinary science and innovation network
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
Responsibilities
- Provide policy recommendations, confidential briefing materials, workforce needs analysis, and technical guidance
- Review grantee applications, reports, and program documents
- Provide technical assistance to grantees and support program office hours
- Develop public-facing materials and facilitate stakeholder engagement
- Support the Governor’s Innovation Council with technical expertise and decision-support materials
- Represent GO-Biz and LWDA at convenings, events, and engagements
- Analyze and aggregate information to ground initiatives in dependable data
- Support the Regional Economic Development Initiative and California Jobs First efforts
- Respond to leadership requests for information, analysis, evaluation, and advice
- Solicit information and coordinate with public, academic, private, federal, tribal, community, foundation, and nonprofit experts
- Identify emerging science and technology issues
