Required and preferred rules are kept separate and reflect the wording in the original posting.
About the Role
You will own reliability for motors, mechanisms, and electronics from design through field use. You will define targets and DFMEA-driven test plans, analyze support, return, and telemetry data, investigate failures, manage failure modes, lead root-cause analysis, communicate results, and influence engineering priorities.
Requirements
- Technical degree in mechanical engineering, materials science, or equivalent
- 2-5 years of reliability engineering experience
- Track record defining reliability targets and test plans for consumer electronics
- Knowledge of life-data analysis, Weibull++ or equivalent, and accelerated test models
- Understanding of DOE, FMEA, DFMEA, and physics of failure
- Experience specifying reliability test setups
- Ability to analyze support tickets, returns, and telemetry data
Responsibilities
- Partner with design engineers to understand physics of failure and design accelerated test methods
- Run DFMEA and set reliability targets, test plans, sample sizes, durations, and acceleration factors
- Collaborate on reliability test setups for fatigue, vibration, shock, temperature, and humidity
- Monitor field failures through support tickets, social media, returns, and telemetry
- Tear down returned units to identify unreported failures
- Own the catalog of field and potential failure modes and drive them to resolution
- Build and own analytics for motor and sensor telemetry
- Perform root-cause failure analysis from bench testing through field returns
- Prepare test plans, drive execution, analyze reports, and present results
- Influence design direction and prioritization based on failure modes
- Strengthen design-for-reliability practices across mechanical, electrical, and software engineering
Benefits
- Equity through the discretionary equity program
- Medical coverage
- Dental coverage
- Vision coverage
- Access to a 401(k) plan
