Resolution is an independent nonprofit AI-alignment research institute focused on theory, empirics, and automation intended to increase confidence in aligned advanced AI.
About Resolution
Resolution Alignment, Inc. is the renamed legal successor to Timaeus Research, Inc. It was briefly announced as Sequent in June 2026 before adopting the Resolution name. The institute combines former Timaeus researchers with researchers from the UK AISI Alignment Team, with a major in-person presence in Berkeley and remote researchers elsewhere.

About the Role
You will conduct empirical or theoretical alignment research within a program. You will translate alignment problems into concrete research questions, design and run experiments or develop proofs and conjectures, and invest in autoformalization where relevant. You will write papers, blog posts, and talks, and communicate research progress and obstacles through daily channels and weekly meetings.
Requirements
- Graduate degree or equivalent research experience in a relevant field
- Research track record and technical writing ability
- Strong mathematical background
- Ability to articulate the value of an alignment research area
- Ability to use AI tools carefully in the workflow
- Motivation to work on artificial superintelligence alignment full-time
Responsibilities
- Translate and model alignment problems into concrete empirical or theoretical research problems
- Design and run experimental protocols and methods
- Prove, conjecture, and invest in autoformalization for theoretical research
- Write and present research through papers, blog posts, and talks
- Communicate research progress and obstacles
