About the Role
You will operate thin-film deposition and characterization tools, prepare samples, conduct preventive maintenance, qualify equipment, and document every run. You will support non-standard experiments, troubleshoot issues, maintain safety and housekeeping practices, manage consumables, and coordinate service work with vendors and facilities.
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on experience operating thin-film deposition or metrology equipment
- Working knowledge of at least one thin-film deposition technique
- Sample preparation with delicate materials
- Basic metrology data interpretation
- Mechanical maintenance aptitude
- Rigorous documentation
- Cleanroom experience
- Chemical safety and contamination control
- Ability to work independently, prioritize requests, and escalate anomalies
- Authorization to work in the United States for the contract duration
Responsibilities
- Operate vacuum-based thin-film deposition tools according to standard operating procedures
- Prepare substrates and samples through dicing, cleaving, mounting, cross-section preparation, and cleaning
- Operate characterization tools and log structural, optical, and electrical film data
- Perform first-line and preventive equipment maintenance
- Qualify tools, track thickness, uniformity, and rate, and flag drift
- Support and document non-standard experiments and parameter sweeps
- Record experimental activities, failures, and fixes to required metadata standards
- Manage chemical handling, waste, gas and precursor changes, lockout/tagout, cleanroom protocols, and consumables inventory
