About the Role
You will conduct research on electromagnetic-transient simulation, dynamic and transient inverter modeling, and software development. You will develop grid models and large-scale simulation algorithms, integrate component models into open-source tools, automate simulation post-processing, publish manuscripts, and present results to sponsors and at conferences.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in electrical engineering or a related discipline completed within the last five years
- Expertise in power systems and power electronics
- Experience programming in C/C++, MATLAB, and Python
- Experience with power systems software such as PSCAD and PSS/e
- Ability to obtain and maintain a federal Personal Identity Verification card
- Pass a Federal Tier 1 background check investigation
Responsibilities
- Develop electromagnetic transient models for transmission and distribution grids, generators, loads, and networks
- Develop algorithms for large-scale simulations
- Integrate or co-simulate grid component and device models in open-source software tools
- Integrate post-processing measures to automate simulations
- Prepare scientific manuscripts and present work to sponsors and at conferences
