About the Role
You will own mechanical design from concept through manufacturing and testing. You will design spacecraft components and structures, create CAD models and drawings, perform structural, thermal, and tolerance analyses, develop qualification tests, evaluate materials and joining methods, and support hardware assembly, integration, and testing.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Experience with 3D CAD tools
- Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and GD&T
- Experience with version control or configuration management
- Ability to work physically at the Ottawa facility
Responsibilities
- Design mechanical components, assemblies, and structures for spacecraft systems
- Perform structural, thermal, and tolerance analyses
- Create detailed drawings and 3D CAD models
- Work with manufacturing partners to produce prototypes and flight hardware
- Develop and execute mechanical qualification and acceptance test plans
- Conduct trade studies on materials, fasteners, and joining methods
- Collaborate on integrated designs with systems, electrical, and software engineers
- Support assembly, integration, and test activities
