About the Role

You will own interceptor mechanical hardware from layout and detailed design through prototype manufacturing, assembly, field testing, failure investigation, and redesign. You will produce CAD, drawings, BOMs, and assembly definitions while supporting fabrication, integration, test operations, and repairs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field
  • At least one year of professional experience at a rocketry, missile, launch-vehicle, propulsion, or related aerospace company
  • Experience designing mechanical hardware that was manufactured, assembled, and tested
  • Strong 3D CAD and mechanical drawing skills, including GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, material selection, fastening, and DFM/DFA
  • Understanding of structural mechanics, load paths, vibration, shock, and thermal effects
  • Experience working with machinists, technicians, suppliers, or fabrication teams
  • Understanding of rocket or missile propulsion systems
  • Ability to spend approximately 50% of time at remote test sites
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Current U.S. work authorization

Responsibilities

  • Design and release mechanical hardware for interceptor vehicles
  • Translate requirements and constraints into CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and assembly definitions
  • Own prototype builds with machinists, technicians, suppliers, and engineers
  • Prepare and execute structural, environmental, propulsion-related, and vehicle-level tests
  • Investigate failures and apply practical design changes
  • Make trade-offs across mass, strength, stiffness, manufacturability, cost, schedule, testability, and reliability
