About the Role

You recruit, evaluate, select, and invest in early-stage water technology and ocean enterprise startups. You run three accelerator cohorts, coach founders on financial modeling, go-to-market strategy, fundraising, and pitch decks, manage partners and reporting, support federal compliance, administer awards, engage NOAA and the IOOS community, and support alumni.

Requirements

  • Experience in water, ocean, environmental, or adjacent hard-tech sectors
  • Ability to evaluate sensing, autonomy, treatment, and remote sensing companies
  • Experience as a founder or employee in a venture-backed company
  • Operating experience in a water or ocean technology company
  • Experience with capital-intensive hardware companies
  • Knowledge of long development cycles
  • Knowledge of pilot-dependent sales
  • Knowledge of regulatory exposure
  • Collaborative mindset
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and relationships
  • Experience with federally funded programs preferred

Responsibilities

  • Recruit startup applicants
  • Lead due diligence and selection for three cohorts
  • Build the top-of-funnel
  • Develop relationships with mentors and investors
  • Coach founders on financial modeling, go-to-market strategy, fundraising positioning, and deck development
  • Monitor startup progress after the program
  • Build ecosystem partnerships
  • Engage the Great Lakes water technology community
  • Plan program logistics
  • Execute accelerator programs
  • Coordinate with gener8tor staff and external partners
  • Manage external partner relationships
  • Provide program updates and reporting
  • Support TDC award allocation decisions
  • Assist alumni with mentor, sponsor, and investor relations
  • Support federal reporting obligations
  • Conduct quarterly startup reporting
  • Monitor subrecipients
  • Administer Technology Development and Commercialization awards
  • Represent the program with NOAA and the IOOS community
