About the Role
You will lead original research and intellectual property development in advanced AI and machine learning. You will develop funded research proposals deliver complex R&D projects define a research area contribute to technology strategy mentor junior colleagues and provide technical consulting to startups and corporate partners.
Requirements
- PhD in AI machine learning or a related field
- Research experience at PhD level
- Experience delivering complex AI or machine learning projects in industry
- Knowledge of agentic AI neuro-symbolic AI reinforcement learning physics-informed neural networks probabilistic reasoning and uncertainty quantification
- Leadership analytical and communication skills
- Experience presenting research to business technical and political audiences
- Technical architecture experience
- Hands-on experience with machine learning deep learning and data science technologies
- Ability to work collaboratively in ambiguous and changing environments
- Successful completion of BPSS clearance
Responsibilities
- Lead original AI and machine learning research
- Develop intellectual property and technical capabilities
- Build partnerships with academic and industry organisations
- Develop R&D proposals for funding bodies
- Deliver R&D projects
- Define a research area and research plan
- Contribute to AI research strategy and technology roadmaps
- Consult with startups and corporates on AI and machine learning
