About the Role
You will assess and manage financial-crime risk involving customers, counterparties, and activity connected to Latin America, particularly Venezuela. You will conduct customer and enhanced due diligence, investigate cross-border transactions, evaluate sanctions exposure, document defensible decisions, and escalate potentially suspicious activity. You will also support ongoing monitoring and improve risk-rating, screening, and monitoring processes with cross-functional partners.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in AML, sanctions, EDD, financial-crimes compliance, or risk operations
- Experience reviewing customers or transactions connected to Latin America
- Knowledge of BSA/AML, KYC/KYB, CDD/EDD, beneficial ownership, transaction monitoring, adverse-media research, and SAR/UAR processes
- Knowledge of OFAC sanctions requirements, general licences, screening, alert disposition, the 50 Percent Rule, and escalation practices
- Experience assessing international customers, foreign-owned businesses, cross-border transactions, and complex sources of funds or wealth
- Ability to independently analyze cases, document rationale, and escalate appropriately
- Investigative, analytical, and written communication skills
Responsibilities
- Conduct CDD and EDD reviews for customers connected to Latin America, including Venezuela
- Review complex ownership structures, beneficial owners, related parties, counterparties, and multinational activity
- Assess and corroborate sources of funds and wealth
- Investigate domestic and international transaction activity for unusual patterns, sanctions evasion, and money laundering
- Conduct sanctions screening and disposition potential matches
- Evaluate exposure to OFAC programs, Venezuela-related sanctions, blocked parties, and the 50 Percent Rule
- Investigate potentially suspicious activity and prepare internal escalations and UARs
- Support onboarding, periodic, event-driven, and ongoing monitoring reviews
- Maintain case records, decision rationales, evidence, and audit trails
- Improve risk-rating methodologies, screening and monitoring rules, procedures, and tooling
- Stay current on LATAM financial-crime typologies, sanctions developments, and regulatory guidance
